London’s Mega Projects2 min read

There are a few projects that are currently taking place in London that will transform the capital.
These are in fact mega projects that will make the city even more vibrant.
Here we present them starting with the least costly and finishing with the most costly.

London City Island

Cost: not known
Features: This development already nicknamed “Mini Manhattan” will provide Londoners with 1700 new and stylish apartments but also shops, a gym and an arts club. It will be located on the Leamouth Peninsula (which will be home to the English National Ballet). It will cover 503,000 square feet.
Completion date: end of 2017

Wembley Park

Cost: £1bn
Features: this will be a large-scale housing development around the well-known Wembley stadium. It will be made of 5000 accommodations, a school, a hospital, shops, restaurants and a big park.
Completion date: set to open in 2024

Embassy Gardens

Cost: £2.2bn
Features: this 3-phase development is expected to bring 130,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, 2000 accommodations, a health center, a 100-bed hotel and children’s playgrounds. It will provide residents (and their guests) with unrivalled amenities such as: a rooftop bar, a private cinema, the highly expected Sky Pool and more.
Completion date: 2019

Royal Wharf

Cost: £3.1bn
Features: This 40-acre development is located right next to London City Airport and close to one of the branches of the University of East London. It will include schools, bars, restaurants and about 4000 accommodations.

Completion date: 2019

Battersea Power Station

Cost: £13.4bn
Features: This 8 million square foot development is by far the biggest and most expensive one in this list. It will feature hotels, accommodations and offices. One of the main tenants will be Apple (yep, the giant computer company). They will move their London headquarter there in 2021.
Completion date: last phase (of 7 phases started in 2014) to be completed in 2025

Since the Battersea Power Station is by far the biggest project in this list, we’ve decided to post a video about it:

As you can see, London is very busy working on some impressive projects.
For the ones who will be able to afford them, they will live in some fantastic flats located in nice areas full with entertainment, restaurants, parks etc. In short, everything they need.

We can’t wait to see these projects come to fruition and try some of the new amenities like Sky Pool 🙂
